To Bow.fishingCountry.com An Excellent Forum Site with the Best Bowfishing Information! |
The purpose of this site is to promote the Bowfishing sport in a responsible manner. This includes following all rules, regulations and laws which vary in each state. Bowfishing is a blast! No related sport of this type comes even close in regards to fun, speed and relatively simple archery skill sets. And by skills I mean; a quick steady hand, reasonable ability to aim with a bow and arrow and routine hunt / search abilities. Most sportsmen that try it, are hooked. In combination with being a both day and night sport, Bowfishers do a service for the environment by helping the eradication of certain species that are invasive and can rid our lakes and rivers of our native species, including game fish. Millions of dollars are spent each year by the state and federal agencies charged with controlling and removing Asian Carp or limit the impact these invasive fish can have. We as bowfishermen can do it for free and have fun in the process! As for myself, I started bowfishing about the same time I started in archery 24 plus years ago, where I shot at everything that moved in the water, including a few logs. I know better now, but I still hit a log occasionally. There are experts out there, I will do my best here to guide you to those experts (the same ones I get advice from routinely) and offer my own advice and experience. Bowfishing has come forward in huge steps over the last few years, in equipment and technique. And new adventures teach us more everyday. Do you have feedback or pictures about Idaho Bowfishing? Email IPA An IPA safety tip: Use arrow slides! How to Tie on your arrow! A good System Where to go Bowfishing in Idaho The Snake River that runs through Southern Idaho holds the most prominent areas for Bowfishing in the state. Backwaters, slow portions of the river before dams and lakes on and off the main river are teaming with Carp populations. Most areas require boats for access, but a lot of success has been reported in areas with wading or shoreline access, such as the American Falls Reservoir area. Look for grassy areas with slow water and shallow spots. Although you won't see the same varieties of Carp or the same populations of similar "rough" fish as you see in other states in the east and south parts of the country, the common Carp species is here for Bowfishing in Idaho.
